Getting Ready, as a Ritual

The half hour before you leave the house can be the best part of the evening.

Some of the best moments of a night out happen before you leave: music on, a drink on the dresser, the slow transformation in the mirror.

Give it time

Rushed getting-ready feels stressful. Unhurried getting-ready feels like a small celebration. Start thirty minutes earlier than you think you need to.

Skin first

A hydrated face makes everything easier. Moisturiser, a few minutes to absorb, then whatever makeup you enjoy — a little or a lot.

Finish with something for you

Perfume on your wrists. A last look. Getting ready is not about meeting someone else's standard. It is about arriving somewhere feeling like the version of yourself you like best.
