The Difference Between Dry and Dehydrated Skin

One is a skin type. The other is a condition. They need different care.

They sound the same, but they aren't.

Dry skin

Dry skin produces less oil. It tends to feel rough or flaky and benefits from richer creams and oils.

Dehydrated skin

Dehydrated skin lacks water, and any skin type — even oily — can be dehydrated. It often looks dull, feels tight, and shows fine lines more.

How to help

Dehydrated skin loves humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid under a moisturiser. Dry skin wants those plus richer, oil-based layers.
