Your Skin Barrier, Explained
The quiet layer that decides how your skin feels every day.
Your skin barrier is the outermost layer of skin — a structure of cells and lipids often compared to bricks and mortar. It keeps moisture in and irritants out.
Signs it's struggling
Tightness, stinging when you apply products, redness, flaking, or skin that suddenly reacts to things it used to tolerate.
What disrupts it
Over-exfoliating, harsh cleansers, too many actives at once, hot water, and very dry air.
How to support it
Simplify. A gentle cleanser, a comforting moisturiser, and sunscreen. Pause exfoliation and strong actives until skin feels calm again.
